Not only was SubZero a side project, but it also gave players a taste of what to expect in the next update for Geometry Dash 2.2. Some important new features are:

Moving the camera around in real time

Effects and transitions in Geometry Dash SubZero pictures

Better lighting and effects for particles

Background animations that go along with music

New skins, icons, and ways to customize

At the time of release, these effects were better than the ones that came with the standard Geometry Dash game.
